ABOUT US
CapoTrave/Kilowatt is an international project of production, training, urban regeneration and ospitality dedicated to the contemporary performing arts (theatre, dance, circus, music, visual arts and multimedia).
Founded in 2003, the heart of the project is the “Kilowatt Festival“, which has been held every year since then in Sansepolcro and, since 2022, also in Cortona, Tuscany, during the month of July.
Kilowatt is recognised as one of the most significant national and international events in its sector due to the quality of the artistic choices and the innovative format of Visionari: a group of 40 people who, after a long period of meeting and discussion, select every year 9 of the over 50 shows presented at the festival.
CapoTrave/Kilowatt manages the Teatro alla Misericordia in Sansepolcro and the Teatro Mario Spina in Castiglion Fiorentino and, with Armunia in Rosignano Marittimo (Li), is one of the two venues of the Centro di Residenza della Toscana.
Since 2014, together with the Municipality of Sansepolcro first and independently since 2018, it has been the leader of the European project “Be SpectACTIve!“.
The association is promoter of the network “L’Italia dei Visionari“, of the project “Residenze Digitali” and of the action “Toscana Terra Accogliente” and is part of several national and international networks: Eyenet 2.0, Anticorpi XL with the actions Danza Urbana XL and ResiDance XL, In-Box, NDN, Risonanze, RAT and CReSCo.
CapoTrave/Kilowatt has won two Ubu prizes, the first in 2010 as a special project and the second in 2021 to Lucia Franchi and Luca Ricci as best curatorial project, the Nico Garrone prize in 2013, the Il Teatro del Sacro award and the ANCT Critics’ award in 2021.
