The Ukrainian artists Polina Chebanu, Yuliana Kozlovets, Yeva Kozlovets, and Lidiia Kuznietsova, in artistic residency at the Teatro alla Misericordia and guests at the Casa degli Artisti in Via dei Balestrieri, arrived in Sansepolcro on May 3rd, welcomed by the CapoTrave/Kilowatt Association and the Municipal Administration. During the two weeks in the city, the company of Theater on Mikhailovskaya from Kiev was able to work on their new project, How to talk to children about the war. Thanks to the collaboration between the city administration and the CapoTrave/Kilowatt Association, which joined the appeal launched by the European IETM network to activate a support network for Ukrainian art companies.
The Biturgense Association directed by Lucia Franchi and Luca Ricci immediately took action to create an Italian support network, thanks to a small investment from the Ministry of Culture, its own funds and the decision of the European network Be SpectACTive! of which it is a lead partner, to allocate part of its European funds to Ukrainian artists. The Municipality of Sansepolcro intervened as a facilitator of this process by receiving the contribution from the Ministry and donating it entirely to the artists.
The Residencies for Peace project involves as many as 26 artistic residency centers in 4 geographical areas of Italy, with the aim of hosting companies and enabling them to continue their creative work. After the stop in Sansepolcro, the company will be in 6 other residency centers between Tuscany, Emilia-Romagna, Umbria, for a total of 3 months of hospitality and creative work.
