It’s the thought that counts<\/p>\n

Ten years of Kilowatt, 1,000 years since the founding of Sansepolcro<\/p>\n

An unexpected coincidence brings together Kilowatt’s first ten years with the thousand-year birthday of Sansepolcro, founded in 1012 by the pilgrims Aegidius and Arcaneus, returning from Jerusalem.<\/p>\n

And so, in juxtaposing theater with the idea of founding a city, a play by Aristophanes, The Birds, comes to mind. There, too, are two citizens: they flee Athens to build in the clouds “a soft city, where one can lie on it like a fur coat.”<\/p>\n

At first the two walk in the dark, madly chasing a raven and a crow (doesn’t every dream chase in the dark?). Then they meet the birds of the sky and with them create a place of happiness where all existing rules are subverted. To found a collective space is to think otherwise and elsewhere, that is, to nurture hope for a different and better society.<\/p>\n

All this has a lot to do with the search for new languages and with the very idea of promoting a festival.<\/p>\n

The wish for the next ten years of Kilowatt and for the future thousand years of Sansepolcro is no longer to found something, but to s-found what is already there, to deconstruct it, to make it a space where joy and beauty can be sought, in a public dimension.<\/p>\n
