CONNECTING VIEWS<\/strong><\/p>

A project by the artistic duo S\u00f6\u00f6t\/Zeyringer.<\/p>

Connecting Views was born within the project European Art Commissioners, conceived by the partners of the European network Be SpectACTive!, of which Kilowatt Festival is the leading partner. The aim of the project is to foster encounters and dialogue among different communities of citizens living in various European cities, with the goal of commissioning an artwork that addresses issues that are sensitive to the people and groups involved.<\/p>

For the occasion, Kilowatt collaborated with the brut Association in Vienna, also a partner of Be SpectACTive!<\/p>

Crucial to the process was the mediation of community managers Eva Wolfesberger for brut and Michele Rossi for CapoTrave\/Kilowatt. The process included an initial phase of selecting themes relevant to the life of each community, followed by the choice of an artistic project from a range of proposals put forward by the artistic directors of the two cultural associations. The theme chosen by both communities was ‘connection,’ understood as interaction, integration, and relationships between people, places, urban spaces, and times. Starting from this word, the selected project was Connecting Views, by the Estonian-Austrian duo Tiina S\u00f6\u00f6t & Dorothea Zeyringer. The central idea of the work is that the city is made up of the experiences and personal stories of its inhabitants. The two artists invited citizens from each community to identify a place that tells a story of connection meaningful to them. The aim was to get to the heart of the city, through the stories of its residents, in order to look at the urban space through the eyes of those who live in it. Participants were asked to take a photo and send it to the artists along with a reflection on what that place represents for them in relation to the word ‘connection.’ The artists then selected 10 stories from each city, which will become artistic postcards to be distributed in cultural and tourist spaces of each location.<\/p>

S\u00f6\u00f6t\/Zeyringer is an Estonian-Austrian artistic duo collaborating since 2012, whose works draw on visual art, dance, and theatre.
