In the same title novel of Jules Verne, a London gentleman takes a bet to circumnavigate the world. On stage there are two storytellers, a board symbolizing the world map, and a DJ who plays music throughout the entire show. Teatro Sotterraneo’s performance is thus a theatre- story game. The novel becomes an interactive contest involving the audience with quizzes and tests.
Teatro Sotterraneo is a collective for theatre research, set up in Florence in 2004. Over the years, it produced several shows staged in major national and international theatres and was awarded many prizes. Since 2008, Teatro Sotterraneo has been part of the Fies Factory project promoted by Centrale Fies, and since 2013 it has been the resident company at Associazione Teatrale Pistoiese in Pistoia. In 2012 it directed “Il Signor Bruschino” at the Rossini Opera Festival.
